GET TO KNOW ERIKA SMYTH: Why the University of Minnesota? As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew that I wanted to come to the University of Minnesota. Walking through the beautiful campus and the city was an incredible experience in itself. After spending time with the girls on the team and the coaches, it already felt like a home away form home.
What is it like to play for Minnesota? As an incoming freshman, I have developed a new sense of pride. Playing softball for the University of Minnesota is something I will take with me for the rest of my life. I will forever bleed Maroon and Gold!

Favorite aspect of softball? It has to be the team aspect. There is no better feeling than being a part of a group of individuals that are working together to reach a common goal as a team.
First softball memory? It is putting on my little league uniform and nothing fit! My jersey could have been considered a dress, and my shorts could have been considered pants.
If you had to choose a sport for play other than softball, what would it be? I would definitely play football and show the boys hos it's really done!
If you could choose one person (past or present) to eat lunch with, who would it be? I would eat with Dustin Pedroia just to hear stories about how he overcame adversity and became such a great second basemen.
