Minnesota softball saw 11 of its current and former student-athletes receive 2016-17 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Tuesday.
2017 • FRESHMAN SEASON
Appeared in 22 games and made 11 starts in the outfield • made 14 appearances with one start in the circle • went 6-0 with a 0.84 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 33.1 innings of work • at the plate had seven at bats with one hit, a double, and scored three runs • picked up her first collegiate win in the circle and had two strikeouts in 4.2 innings at the Texas Classic • made appearances in left field or as a pinch runner in games against Notre Dame • pitched two innings with two strikeouts in a win over North Carolina State where she allowed only two hits and one run • appeared in the circle in two games and had one strikeout and only allowed one run against UC Davis • had two putouts in a game against Fresno State • in an appearance against Cal Poly she had two putouts • picked up her third win of the season in the circle after going four innings against Illinois State, striking out two batters • appeared in 2.1 innings against Seattle and struck out three • appeared in one inning against the No. 8/8 Washington • picked up her first collegiate start in a run-rule victory over South Dakota at the Husky Classic. In five innings she struck out three and allowed only one hit • established three putouts in left field against Oregon State • notched her first career hit with a double against Pacific • made an appearance on the mound for five innings against Nebraska and had one strikeout in a victory • went one inning against South Dakota where she had one strikeout • pitched two innings in the circle against Penn State where she struck out two • came into the circle in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals against Illinois and pitched one inning while striking out two.
A 2016 graduate of Le Sueur-Henderson High School • six-time letterwinner in both softball and tennis and a five-time letterwinner in basketball • was a three-time conference MVP in tennis and two-time state participant. Scored 1,000 career points in basketball earning All-Conference honors three times • five-time All-Conference member in softball with three conference MVP awards • earned All-State honors three times • named 2016 Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year and was a Ms. Softball finalist • holds hitting records for career hits, doubles, triples and RBI along with pitching records for career strikeouts, strikeouts in a season, career shutouts, no-hitters, perfect games and career wins.
From Le Sueur, Minn. • lists favorite sports memory as finishing top five at the state tournament three years in a row and accomplishing 1,000 career strikeouts • enjoys sports and spending time with her family • daughter of Kevin and Kim Brandt • has two sisters, Cassie (24) and Chloe (12).
