The United Soccer Coaches named a pair of University of Minnesota soccer players to the All-Midwest Region Teams yesterday. Sydney Squires, along with Tori Burnett, were named to the First and Third Team, respectively.
Squires, a Hudson, Wis. native, finished with a co-Big Ten leading 14 goals this season and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team as well. Her 14 goals ties her for the eighth most in a single season in Minnesota soccer history. Her 31 career goals puts her at seventh most in program history. Squires earned multiple awards throughout the season, including NCAA Player of the Week and multiple Offensive Player of the Week honors from the Big Ten. Squires was honored earlier this season by the same United Soccer Coaches by being named their player of the week and making an appearance on their podcast after her four goal performance against Iowa State.

As a senior, Burnett increased her consecutive starts to 64 games; the streak was the longest by any active player on the roster this past season. She helped the Gophers back line to allow the fewest shots and shots on goal in the Big Ten. Burnett was an All-Big Ten Second Team performer this season, and finished with two assists.
