MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After a standout weekend for the Maroon and Gold, sophomore forward and Lakeville, Minn. native Simone Kolander was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten Conference office on Monday afternoon.
Kolander, who combined for two goals and five assists over the weekend, is the first Gopher to receive weekly honors this season.
The Gophers defeated Stetson University to open the season on Friday evening with a ten goal victory.Kolander had a part in six of those goals with two goals and four assists. When Minnesota took on No. 2 Florida State, Kolander found defender Ashley Pafko in the box to score Minnesota's lone goal of the match.
Last season, Kolander played in all 20 games for the Gophers with two goals and had a team-high five assists. This weekend alone, Kolander has tied her career-high nine points, two goals and five assists.
The Maroon and Gold will open their home schedule on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. against Marquette.

Spring Season In Review
The Golden Gophers wrapped up its spring season this weekend, with five exhibition games played. Minnesota posted a 3-1-1 record, and finished the season with three shutouts.
