Arkansas State University announced last week that former University of Minnesota player and volunteer assistant coach Lisa Berg has been named to an assistant coaching post with the Red Wolves.

Prior to serving as a volunteer assistant at Minnesota, Berg played as a defender for the Gophers from 2002-2004 before having her career cut short by an injury during her junior season. As a player, she was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She served as Director of Minnesota Soccer Camps and also handled travel accommodations, video recording and team training during her time coaching at Minnesota.

“After seeing her develop first as a player and then as a coach, we’re very excited for Lisa to have the opportunity to coach at Arkansas State,” Minnesota head coach Mikki Denney Wright said. “We are grateful for all the work she has done for our program and we wish her the best of luck at ASU.”

Berg will make her coaching debut with Arkansas State when the Red Wolves open their season at home against Central Arkansas on Aug. 23.
