Fire SC 98 Schedule // Minnesota TwinStars Schedule // WPSL Home
Five current University of Minnesota soccer players and one alumnus continued their play in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) the past few weeks, keeping their skills sharp during the summer months leading up to the 2018 collegiate season.
It was a 1-0-1 weekend for Fire SC 98, which fields Makenzie Langdok, McKenna Buisman, Emily Heslin, April Bockin and Molly Fiedler. The team was coming off a weekend off, and was the first team to pick up a victory on the road in the North conference.
Maddie Gaffney, who plays for the Minneosta TwinStars FC, had a weekend off themselves after a trip to Illinois in which they finished 0-2-0 and did not register a goal in either of the games.
The WPSL season ranges from May-July, with both teams that have Gophers on their roster playing in the North conference.
Fire SC 98 traveled to two different states during their road weekend. They took on Chicago City SC at DePaul University Wish Field on June 8 and claimed a 2-1 victory. Fiedler registered an assist on the first goal of the game, and played significant minutes throughout the entire contents.

In their second game of the weekend, Fire SC 98 took on the Milwaukee Torrent for the second time during the summer season and once again battled to a draw. In the first match, it was Buisman who scored, this time it was Langdok who continued her torrid scoring pace since the end of her freshman campaign. Her goal came in the 75th minute, which was almost the exact same minute as her first goal of the summer, which came in the 76th minute.

Langdok has basically done a true position split in the games we’ve seen. Right back for one half. Center forward the other half. Doing well in both. It will be interesting to see how she lines up for the #Gophers this fall considering their lineup has competition in both places. https://t.co/FzyR2ZDp5a

Both teams will be home on June 16 and June 17 with the Minnesota Twinstars playing at Minnetonka High School Stadium at 5:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Fire SC 98 will take the field at Seafoam Stadium at Concordia University at 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
