MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota women's soccer team closes out its spring schedule on Saturday against North Dakota State in a battle of 2010 NCAA tournament teams.
Saturday's contest is set for a 1 p.m. opening kick at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Admission to the game is free. Continue checking Gophersports.com for updates.
While the Gophers and Bison didn't meet on the pitch in 2010, they definitely saw each other in the middle of action. Minnesota, NDSU, Creighton and Texas A&M all participated in the same regional during the 2010 NCAA tournament with the Gophers hosting the first and second round games.
The Bison pushed the top-seeded Aggies of Texas A&M to a 1-1 tie before losing 4-3 on penalty kicks. Meanwhile, Minnesota would take down the Aggies 2-0 in the second round after topping Creighton 4-2 in its tournament opener. The pair of wins for the Gophers would push the team to a Sweet 16 appearance -- the team's second in three years.
Minnesota will also open the 2011 fall season with an exhibition game against NDSU on Aug. 12.
