April 25, 2013
After months of spring training and conditioning, the Minnesota women’s soccer team will test its progress in competition as the Maroon and Gold hosts Minnesota State for the annual spring game this Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
After the match, the Golden Gopher squad will host a soccer clinic for HopeKids, an organization dedicated to providing ongoing events, activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition.
In head coach Stefanie Golan’s first season with the program, the Gophers strung together an 11-7-2 season and a 6-4-1 league mark for a fourth-place finish in the Big Ten Conference standings. The Mavericks wrapped up a historic season with a 17-1-5 overall record and a near-perfect success rate, 14-0-1, to capture the program’s first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship.
Admission into the match is free for all those that attend. Be sure to take advantage of the great weather and come out and support the team!
