Minnesota Upsets No. 13 Michigan

The University of Minnesota women's soccer team finished their Michigan trip by upsetting No. 13 Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Gophers were able to capitalize on a corner kick that was earned by freshman Ashley Pafko. Jen Larrick took the corner for the Gophers and Olivia Schultz was able to score for the Gophers in the 37th minute.
The Gophers improved to 8-3-0 on the season going into a two-game homestand at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium next week. The Gophers earned their first Big Ten win on Sunday.
GOPHER STAND OUT PERFORMANCES
Freshman goalkeeper Tarah Hobbs had another stand out game as she was able to shut out the Wolverines. Hobbs had five saves on the game including a diving save near the end of the first half.
Olivia Schultz scored in the 37th minute to put the Gophers up late in the first half.
The backline was able to help dissolve some of the scoring opportunities that Michigan created during the game. Becca Roberts, MacKenzie Misel, Elle Dykema, MacKenzie Misel, Lauren Bauer and Rashida Beal were strong for the Gophers throughout the game.
WHAT IS NEXT:
The Gophers will return after a three week away series. The Gophers will take on Ohio State on Friday and Penn State on Sunday. Come welcome the Golden Gophers home as they continue their Big Ten season.
