The Minnesota rowing team will conclude its fall schedule Sunday morning when it takes part in the Head of the Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. The Gophers' varsity 8+ boats start off the day for Minnesota beginning at 10:30 a.m., while the novice boats wrap up the event at 2 p.m.
The Head of the Iowa is the second and final regatta for the Golden Gophers during the fall season. The squad also competed in the Head of the Mississippi on Oct. 2, where is swept the competition in all four of its events.
LAST YEAR AT THE HEAD OF THE IOWA
Last season, Minnesota had its first varsity eight take part in the Princeton Chase, while two additional varsity eight boats, three varsity four boats and three novice eight boats competed in the Head of the Iowa. In Iowa City, the varsity eight squads placed sixth and eighth and the varsity four boats added ninth, 12th and 15th place overall finishes in their event. In novice eight action, the Gophers placed third, seventh and ninth overall.
