The University of Minnesota rowing team is set to open its fall season Sunday when it participates in the Head of the Mississippi on the Mississippi River. The Golden Gophers will launch from East River Flats Park on the U of M campus, with their first event scheduled to get underway at 9:15 a.m.
Minnesota will participate in four events during the Head of the Mississippi, with the novice eight boats starting the morning off with the first collegiate races of their careers. The Gophers’ varsity four boats will shove off at 11:00 a.m., the open twos will start at 3:30 p.m. and Minnesota’s varsity eight boats will conclude the day for the Gophers at 4:45 p.m.
The race will be rowed upstream beginning at the Minneapolis Rowing Club boathouse and ending approximately three miles from the start near the U of M Boathouse.
Parking is available at East River Flats Park for a small fee, while there are several additional pay lots in the area. Street parking is available above East River Flats Park, with all meters enforced.

World Rowing U-23 Championships begin Wednesday
