Minnesota Releases 2012-13 Rowing Schedule

The University of Minnesota women’s rowing program announced its 2012-13 schedule Friday afternoon, with the Golden Gophers set to compete in three events during their fall season and six regular-season regattas in the spring.

Minnesota’s first and only home regatta, the Head of the Mississippi, kicks off the fall on Oct. 7 at East River Flats Park. The varsity squad will then head to Rockford, Ill., on Oct. 14 to compete in the Head of the Rock. The fall season will come to a close on Oct. 28 at the Head of the Iowa in Iowa City.

The Gophers’ will start off the spring season with a scrimmage at San Diego on Feb. 9, before officially opening the season at the OKC Invite on March 8.

The varsity team will travel to Knoxville for a dual regatta at Tennessee, before the novice heads out on its own for the San Diego Crew Classic on April 6. Both squads will face Iowa in a Big Ten Conference dual on April 13 and will also take part in the Clemson Challenge on April 20. The regular-season comes to a close on May 5, when Minnesota travels to Wisconsin for its annual Border Battle.

The Big Ten Rowing Championships are set for May 19 in Indianapolis, Ind.
