The University of Minnesota’s Second Varsity Eight earns the conference’s first Boat of the Week award of 2007, after defeating Louisville last Sunday in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The boat of Kaja Tally, Mary Ann Weinzierl, Christine O’Donnell, Laura Jatautaite, Catherine Casey, Ashlee Vilmo, Sarah Graham, Heidi Becthel, with Rachel Hotkowski at bow, finished first with a time of 6:54.1. The Gophers finished nine seconds ahead of Louisville, which placed second in 7:03.2.

Minnesota's 2V8 and the rest of the Gopher crew are competing in Tennessee during spring break. The Maroon and Gold will take on Tennessee, March 17 in Knoxville, Tenn. Following the spring break trip, the Gophers will start conference action when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa and compete in a dual against the Hawkeyes on March 31.
