The University of Minnesota women's rowing team wrapped up competition at the UVa Invitational hosted by Virginia Sunday afternoon on Lake Monticello in Charlottesville, Va., with the Gophers' second varsity eight placing second as the Maroon and Gold's top finisher.
The 2V8 of coxswain Sara Baldvins, Caitlin Boon, Tabitha Andelin, Kathryn Switalski, Lynn Hodnet, Katherine Windsor, Sarah Sobek, Maddy Bourgeois and Katie Anderson posted a time of 6:50.3 to finish ahead of Cornell and nab a second-place finish behind Virginia.
Minnesota's No. 19-ranked 1V8 of coxswain Emilie Sabourin, Christine Beauparlant, Rachel Sartor, Ali Haws, Rebecca Braak, Molly Kalmoe, Kayla Thom, Becky Kinchen and Ellen Hughes clocked a time of 6:48.7 to place third behind the top-ranked Cavaliers and the No. 14-ranked Big Red, while the 1V4 of coxswain Jacqueline Stein, Chelsea Miller, Jaime Friscia, Nicolette Marquart and Melissa Drezdzon also posted a third-place finish with a time of 7:42.9.
The second varsity four of coxswain Rachael Rogers, Alexandria Voss, Erica Revering, Katherine Moran and Leah Rogotzke finished in a time of 8:04.2, and the 1N8 of coxswain Danica Rog, Haylee Davis, Sam Otterson, Anna Swanson, Kathleen Charley, Mary Prior, Eleanor Ludkey, Silvia Coleman and Shannon Boardway tallied a time of 7:14.7.
The Gophers will have a weekend off, before hosting a Double Dual vs. SMU and Wisconsin on Sunday, April 29.

World Rowing U-23 Championships begin Wednesday
Anna Cruse and Team USA will compete at next week's 2017 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria as entries were finalized this week.
