Chris Howell is currently in her 31st year at Minnesota and 21st with Athletics Administration. She coordinates travel for Sport Administrators, football, Big Ten, WCHA and NCAA postseason competitions, including the band and spirit squads. She provides daily support for several Athletic Directors and the sport of rowing.
Chris is a former assistant basketball coach at Minnesota (1977-87) and UCLA (1975-77), physical education teacher (CA, MN, and WI), NCAA Division II and III women's and high school basketball official. She served as a director/coach/clinician at several basketball camps (126 weeks) with John Wooden, UCLA, California, Minnesota and in Wisconsin.
In 2006, Chris was inducted into the University of Minnesota Women's Basketball Hall of Fame as an Assistant Coach for the "1981 Big Ten Champions" and in 2009 for the "1982 AIAW Region VI Champions". Chris has served on numerous NCAA Championship Hosting Committees. She is a member of the Minnesota High School Basketball Hall of Fame Committee, the M Club Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Minnesota Coalition of Women in Athletic Leadership Committee, Positive Coaching Alliance Young Associates Board and SafeJourney's Benefit Board at North Memorial Hospital. She mentors young athletes and basketball officials and is a graduate of California State University Fresno.
Chris and her husband Dan Hollenbeck reside in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
