MINNEAPOLIS – Fans of Golden Gopher women’s hockey have the chance to skate with Gopher players during the annual Skate with the Gophers event, which will follow Minnesota's game against Princeton at Ridder Arena this Saturday. Faceoff for the game is at 4:07 p.m.
Over 300 individuals have already registered for the event, and registration is now closed as capacity has been met. The participants will be split into three groups and will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities around the arena.
Besides skating, participants can get autographs, have their faces painted, play games and much more. Check-in will occur during and immediately after the game at the corner of the rink near the elevator. All questions on the day of the event should be directed to the check-in table. Participants are encouraged to leave their skates in their cars and retrieve them after the game.
If fans have any questions before the event, they can contact Gopher Sports Marketing at GSM@umn.edu.
Minnesota takes a 15-1-0 (11-1-0 WCHA) mark into this weekend’s non-conference series against Princeton (5-4-2, 4-4-1 ECAC Hockey). Saturday is also Thankful for Hockey Day where all fans wearing a hockey jersey will receive a $4 general admission ticket. Sunday’s promotion is Dads & Daughters Day.
This weekend’s series marks Minnesota's final home series of the first half of the season; the Gophers wrap up 2013 at Ohio State (Dec. 7-8) and return to action at Ridder Arena by hosting the Buckeyes on Jan. 10-11, 2014.
