USCHO.com Poll

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota women's hockey team has earned the No. 1 ranking in the USCHO.com Division I Women's preseason poll. The Gophers are set to begin the 2013-14 season where the squad ended the 2012-13 campaign.

Minnesota earned 14 of 15 first-place votes, with No. 2 Boston College receiving the other top vote.

The Gophers are slated to face two teams appearing in the preseason top 10 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association foes No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 8 North Dakota.

Behind the Gophers, Boston College, Clarkson, Cornell and Boston University round out the USCHO preseason top five.

Minnesota hosts two exhibition games against Team Japan and the University of British Columbia at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 and Sept. 27, respectively. Admission is free to both games. The Gophers open the 2013-14 campaign on the road at Colgate Oct. 4-5 before hosting Wisconsin in their home-opening series Oct. 11-12.

The USCHO.com poll is compiled weekly and consists of 15 voters, including 14 coaches of Division I programs and one women's hockey writer. USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.
