Despite falling short of an NCAA three-peat, the Gophers enjoyed a highly successful and exciting 2013-14 campaign, which included the program's sixth WCHA Final Face-off title and eighth WCHA regular season title, the program's first-ever outdoor game in the Hockey City Classic at TCF Bank Stadium and the program's 10th NCAA Frozen Four appearance. #2: Gophers Earn WCHA Three-Peat
The Gophers defeated North Dakota, 3-1, in the WCHA Final Face-Off championship game in Bemidji, Minn., on March 8, 2014, securing the team's third-straight WCHA postseason title. Minnesota scored three unanswered goals after UND took a 1-0 lead early in the second period. The Gophers recorded two power-play goals in the second and added an empty-netter in the third to secure the 3-1 win.
