Despite falling short of an NCAA three-peat, the Gophers enjoyed a highly successful and exciting 2013-14 campaign, which included the program's sixth WCHA Final Face-off title and eighth WCHA regular season title, the program's first-ever outdoor game in the Hockey City Classic at TCF Bank Stadium and the program's 10th NCAA Frozen Four appearance. #3: Gophers Win Hockey City Classic on Outdoor Ice
The Gophers defeated Minnesota State, 4-0, on the outdoor ice at TCF Bank Stadium in the 2014 Hockey City Classic on Jan. 17, 2014. Senior Sarah Davis led the Gophers with three points, and sophomore Amanda Leveille made 19 saves in her seventh shutout of the year.
The game marked the first-ever outdoor game in Gopher women’s hockey history, and it was played in front of 6,623 fans, the largest crowd to watch a Gopher women's hockey game in the state of Minnesota since the program's inaugural game (6,854 fans on Nov. 2, 1997).
