Volunteer Goalie Coach


Joining the Gopher women's hockey coaching staff this season is volunteer goalie coach Andy Kent.

Kent brings a wealth of coaching experience to the University of Minnesota. He is currently the Director of Goaltender Development with MEGA Goaltending. He also serves as the boys' hockey goalie coach at Roseville High School. In 2009, Kent coached with Quest Goaltending, where he worked with a variety of levels from NCAA Division I goalies down to 12-year-old youth goalies. He also has experience with Attitude Goaltending, and the Orono Men's Summer Training program. In 2008, Kent ran his own three-day goalie camp, the Andrew Kent Goalie Camp.

Kent was a four-year letterwinner at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, playing from 2005-09. During his four seasons playing for the Auggies, he played in 71 games and accumulated a 3.68 goals against average. He's listed among Augusburg's all-time top 10 in career saves (1,407), career save percentage (.879) and career saves per game (29.31). Kent was a M.I.A.C. All-Conference award winner in 2007 and earned M.I.A.C All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2009. He was an assistant captain for the Auggies as a senior in 2008-09.

A Minnesota native, Kent graduated from Lakeville High School in 2002. During high school, he played for Northern Lights Junior Hockey for three years.

Kent graduated from Augsburg in May 2009 with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and a minor in management information systems.
