Big Ten Article | Mable 2014 Season Recap
ROSEMONT, Ill. - As a part of its Big Ten Athlete of the Year Nominee Spotlight series, BigTen.org featured Minnesota gymnast Lindsay Mable Friday. Mable was chosen as the University's nominee for the Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year Award, which will be announced on Monday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. CT on BTN.
After an impressive freshman campaign, Mable picked up right where she left off in 2014 and managed to improve in her second season. The Aurora, Colo. native was the NACGC/W North Central Region Gymnast of the Year, became Minnesota’s first Big Ten All-Around champion since 2009 with a school-record 39.650 score that included the school’s third perfect 10 score, and was a five-time All-American.
In the regular season, she was a First Team All-American all-around and on floor exercise and was second team on vault. She then earned first-team honors on vault—going on to place fifth at the national event finals—and scored second-team honors on the floor at the NCAA Nationals.
She notched 25 events wins and 10 all-around titles in 14 meets this season to grab First Team All-Big Ten accolades for the second year in a row, helping the Gophers win a share of their second-consecutive Big Ten regular-season title.
