The Top 10.0 Things You Need to Know...
1.0 - No. 14 Minnesota (12-3, 4-1 Big Ten) plays host to its third and final quad meet of the season, as it welcomes No. 12 Nebraska, No. 24 Arkansas and Centenary to the Sports Pavilion for a meet on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. CT.
2.0 - Minnesota is coming off a dual meet at then-No. 2 Florida, which returned to No. 1 this week after scoring a school-record 198.425 points against the Gophers. Minnesota had a total of 197.175 points, which is the second-highest total in program history.
3.0 - In recording its second-best team total at Florida, Minnesota achieved its second-highest beam total (49.325) in the program’s history, its third-best vault score (49.425), and tied for its fifth-highest floor total (49.450).
4.0 - The Gophers have won three quad meets this season, including a Jan. 26 victory against then-No. 1 Michigan in which the Gophers scored 196.800 points.
5.0 - Freshman Lindsay Mable has won the all-around at four meets, with a season-high total of 39.525 points. Mable has scored better than 39.300 in each of the four all-around titles she’s won, and was honored as Big Ten Freshman of the Week this week for the fifth time this season.
6.0 - Lindsay Mable’s total of five Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards this season is two more than the total number that Minnesota gymnasts had received since the conference began recognizing a freshman gymnast in 2010. Juniors Kayla Slechta (2) and Dusti Russell (1), who earned awards during 2011, are the only other Minnesota gymnasts to have been recognized.
7.0 - Lindsay Mable has a chance to make her mark on the Big Ten record book, as only Nebraska’s Jessie DeZiel (9 times during 2012), Ohio State’s Sarah Miller (6 during 2011) and Michigan’s Natalie Bellstein (6 during 2010) have earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week more than five times.
8.0 - Five different gymnasts scored 9.925’s at Florida. Sophomore Kylie Schermann scored 9.925 on floor to tie for fourth, Mable and sophomore Jenny Covers each had 9.925 on vault to tie for second, and senior Shannon Golich and freshman Hanna Nordquist tied for third on beam. Each of the scores either tied a career-high, or established a new one.
9.0 - Minnesota is ranked eighth nationally on floor exercise with an RQS of 49.275, while ranking 10th on vault (49.235), 11th on beam (49.030), and 34th on bars (48.675).
10.0 - The Golden Gophers own a mark of 4-1 against teams ranked among the GymInfo Top 25 this season, and Minnesota is 8-0 against teams it has faced at the Sports Pavilion.
