MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota's women's gymnastics team is ranked 14th in the most recent GymInfo Top 25 Rankings, which are based on teams' Regional Qualifying Scores (RQS).
Minnesota (12-2, 4-1 Big Ten) dropped its first two meets of the season over the weekend in Iowa, falling to the Hawkeyes by a score of 195.725-195.550 on Friday, before a 195.550-195.025 loss at Iowa State on Sunday afternoon.
The Gophers have been hovering between 10th and 14th for the entire regular season. The Gophers were ranked No. 23 in the preseason poll, but debuted at No. 11 in the first regular season poll on Jan. 14, were ranked 12th on Jan. 21, moved up to 10th on Jan. 28, were tied for 13th on Feb. 4, moved to No. 11 on Feb. 11, and were 12th last week.
Iowa moved into the Top 25 this week, giving the Big Ten a season-high total of seven ranked teams in the poll. Michigan tops the list at No. 3, while defending champion Nebraska is 10th, Minnesota is No. 14, Ohio State jumps one spot ahead of No. 19 Illinois, Penn State is 22nd, and the Hawkeyes are 24th.
The Gophers hit the road this week for a non-conference road meet at No. 2 Florida on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. CT.
