PARK RIDGE, ILL. - Minnesota gymnast Lindsay Mable is this week's Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office this afternoon.
It's the second consecutive week that Mable is the conference's freshman honoree, and it's the fourth time in seven weeks that she's been the recipient of the award since the start of Minnesota's regular season on Jan. 12.
Mable finished among the top three in nine of 10 total events, as Minnesota competed in dual meets at Iowa and Iowa State over the weekend. Mable won the balance beam (9.850) and all-around (39.400) titles on Friday night at Iowa, and followed by tying for first on vault (9.875) and winning both beam (9.900) and floor (9.900) on Sunday afternoon at Iowa State.
Mable and the Golden Gophers (12-2), who are ranked 14th in this week's GymInfo Top 25, return to the road this weekend for a 6:00 p.m. CT meet on Friday at No. 2 Florida.
