PARK RIDGE, ILL. – Minnesota gymnast Lindsay Mable has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her performance in the Gophers’ win at the Best of Minnesota/Always Dreaming Invitational.
Mable tied her personal-best with a first-place score of 9.925 on floor and recorded a season-best 9.875 for second place on vault, as Minnesota remained undefeated by scoring 196.000 points during Saturday’s meet.
It’s the third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season for Mable, who also tied for second on balance beam with a score of 9.850 and took second place in the all-around (38.750) despite taking a fall on bars (9.100).
No. 12 Minnesota (12-0, 4-0 Big Ten) and No. 2 Oklahoma (14-0) are the only two remaining undefeated teams among the GymInfo Top 25. The Gophers have a record of 5-0 against teams ranked in this week’s Top 25, including a win against then-No. 1 Michigan on Jan. 26.
Minnesota has a pair of meets in the state of Iowa this weekend, traveling to Iowa City for a Big Ten dual meet against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday at 7:00 p.m., before heading to Ames for a 2:00 p.m. meet at Iowa State on Sunday afternoon.
Friday’s meet will be tape delayed on the Big Ten Network, with the telecast set to air on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 5:00 p.m. CT.
