FINAL RESULTS

The No. 18 University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team notched their third B1G victory Friday night, beating Illinois 196.100 to 195.100.

Ivy Lu headlined the meet on uneven bars, tying the program record with a 9.975. She added a personal-best 9.850 on beam.

“She was great on both events tonight,” head coach Jenny Hansen said. “She has been so consistent in practice, really going for perfection every turn she does. She just continues to do that in the meet, going after it the same way she does in practice.”

Lu was embraced by her entire team at once as one judge flashed a 10.

“That was the best feeling in the world,” Lu said. “It still feels surreal. It’s really cool, but hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Three-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week Lexy Ramler won the all-around title, compiling a total score of 39.475 for the second straight week. She has won the all-around in all five meets this season.

Ona Loper came in second, tying a career high on all-around with 39.100. Her best event was vault, where she had a 9.900.

VAULT

Loper and Ramler went first and second on vault. Loper had a 9.900 and Ramler had a 9.825 to begin the day for Minnesota. Ciara Gardner, Hannah Hitchcock and Paige Williams each had 9.800s. Those five brought the Gophers to a season-high vault score of 49.125.

BARS

Lu tied the school record with 9.975 on the bars. Bailie Holst scoeed one in 2016 and Mary Skokut had the other in 2004. Lu’s 9.975 is the highest ever by a Gopher at the Pav. Ramler followed Lu with a 9.875.

BEAM

Ramler won the beam title with a 9.950. It was her second time hitting 9.950 on beam this season, which is the highest mark by any Gopher this season and is third highest in program history. Lu finished in third for the event with a career high 9.850.

The Gophers had the top four scores on floor. Ciara Gardner and Ramler tied for the event title with 9.825s. Paige Williams and Loper tied for third with scores of 9.800.
