Host school North Carolina State leads the event at 25-over 593. The Invitational is being held at the par 71, 6,017-yard Pine Needles Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C.
Sophomore Terra Petsinger (Arvilla, N.D./Larimore) shot rounds of 76-79-155 (+13) and is tied for 22nd place. One-shot back is junior Katie Jacobson (Grand Forks, N.D./Montana), tied for 26th at 156. Senior Karyn Stordahl (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) carded a 158 (+16) to sit tied for 32nd place. Freshman Sarah Butler (Roseau, Minn./Roseau) is tied for 41st with an opening day score of 161. Senior Kirstin Whalen (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) totaled a 165 (+23) and is at 52nd place.
The Golden Gopher golf team will complete the Pine Needles Collegiate Invitational tomorrow.
