The University of Minnesota women's golf team is in eighth place after one round of the Lady Paladin in Greenville, S.C. The Gophers fired a first round 17-over 305 and trail tournament host Furman by 13 shots. The second round is tomorrow at the par 72 6,103- yard Furman Golf Course.

Individually, Minnesota was led by freshman Sydney Liles. Liles carded a first round 75 and is tied for 17th. Senior Sarah Butler was a shot behind and tied for 24th with a 76. Freshman Suvi Mantyniemi and sophomore Emily Brand each shot a 77 and are tied for 38th. Senior Jessica Thomas is tied for 68th after a first round 81.
