The University of Minnesota women's golf team shot a total of 303 on Tuesday to tally 912 and climb from 15th place after two rounds to ninth in the final standings of the Shootout at the Legends, at The Legends Golf Course in Franklin, Ind.

Michigan tallied 877 to capture the team title, edging runner-up Wisconsin by two strokes. Michigan's Kim Benedict and Kent State's Martina Gillen tied for medalist honors with scores of 4-under par 212.

The Golden Gophers shot consistent scores in each round on the par 72, 6,076-yard course. Minnesota carded totals of 304 in the first round and 305 in the second before finishing the tournament with a 303.

Senior Cindy Cannon was the only Gopher to finish in the top 20, placing in a tie for 18th at 225. Cannon shot even par 72 in the first round, then followed with rounds of 79 and 74.

Rookie Tai Kinney was the second Gopher finisher, placing in a tie for 30th at 228, after rounds of 75, 75 and 78. Junior Karyn Stordahl tied for 33rd at 228, with rounds of 77, 75 and 77, while sophomore Karen Quintelier completed the Gopher scorers in a tie for 59th at 235, with rounds of 80, 76 and 79.

The fifth Gopher competing was senior Megan Stier, who tied for 83rd at 241 after rounds of 85, 82 and 74.

The Gophers play their final fall tournament on Oct. 27-29 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at the Alabama Capstone Invitational.
