Gopher Women's Golf in Ninth After Two Rounds at Hawkeye Invitational

The Minnesota women’s golf team heads into Sunday’s final round of the Hawkeye Invitational in ninth place with a two-round tally of 651 at the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa. The final round gets underway at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Tennessee-Chattanooga (300-298=598) leads Wisconsin (307-304=611) by three strokes in the team standings after two rounds. Wisconsin’s Katie Elliot tops the individual leaderboard with a 1-over par 145 after two rounds.

The Golden Gophers totaled 322 shots in the first round as junior Paige Broman carded a season-best 4-over par 76 on the par 72, 6,323-yard Finkbine course. Bromen was tied for 11th after the first 18 holes.

Minnesota shot 329 in the second round to finish Saturday’s play at 651. Bromen slipped to 19th after a round of 80.

Gopher senior Emily Brand (82-83) and freshman Mary Narsizi (78-87) are tied for 43rd after 36 holes with a score of 165. Narsizi’s round of 78 was a season best.

Completing the Minnesota lineup is sophomore Leslie Grabeman, who shot 85-83 for 168 and freshman Michelle Edlin at 190 after rounds of 86 and 84.
