The University of Minnesota men's and women's golf programs have announced the merger of their booster groups to further the success of both programs. Their first combined event will be a golf outing on Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Les Bolstad University of Minnesota Golf Course beginning at 1:30 p.m. Registration is at 1 p.m., with a dinner and awards ceremony after the round of golf.
The short term goal of the combined Booster Group is to raise money for a 12- month practice facility at the U of M driving range. This facility will be used exclusively by the men's and women's golf teams. Preliminary plans for the facility include 10 heated hitting stalls, three video rooms, a putting/short game room, team locker rooms and a lounge.
The long term goal is to completely endow the budgets of both the men's and women's programs. To date, the scholarships of the men's team have been endowed.
The event is free to Gopher Golf Booster Members and all guests will be charged $75 with all proceeds benefiting the U of M golf teams. You can register your foursome by calling Andrew Tank, assistant men's golf coach, at (612) 625-5863.
