Gophers Announce 2013-14 Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota head women’s golf coach Michele Redman has announced the program’s 2013-14 schedule with the Minnesota Invitational highlighting this year’s slate.
The Gophers’ first home competition since 2005, the Minnesota Invitational is set for Sept. 16-17 at the Minikahda Club, previous host site of the 1916 U.S. Open, the 1927 U.S. Amateur, the 1957 Walker Cup, the 1988 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the 1998 Curtis Cup. The Gophers’ home tournament will open the 2013-14 schedule a 12-team field including Illinois, Nebraska, Texas State, Kent State, San Diego State, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Jacksonville, Idaho and Georgia Regents.
“We have an exciting schedule for the upcoming season especially with our first home tournament in eight years,” Redman said. “We’re proud to host the Minnesota Invitational at the Minikahda Club this September. We have a great course to host the event and a great field of teams competing this season.”
After opening the 2013-14 season with the Minnesota Invitational, the Gophers head to Northwestern’s Windy City Collegiate Classic at Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Ill., on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Minnesota will then compete at Indiana’s Hoosier Fall Invitational at Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, Ind., on Oct. 19-20 before wrapping up the fall season at UNLV’s Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Oct. 27-29 at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
The Gophers pick up the spring schedule in February with Central Florida’s UCF Challenge on Feb. 9-11 in Orlando and the 14th annual Central District Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Cypress Course in Sarasota, Fla., on Feb. 17-18. March will see Minnesota among the field at the BYU Entrada Classic at Entrada Golf Course in St. George, Utah on March 17-18 as well as the MountainView Collegiate, co-hosted by Kansas State and Missouri, in Tucson, Ariz., on March 28-29 at the MountainView Golf Club. The Gophers close out the regular season on April 7-8 at Jacksonville’s Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Championships season begins on April 25-27 with the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind. The conference championships will be played on the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort. The NCAA Regionals are set for May 8-10 (locations to be determined) with the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 20-23 in Tulsa, Okla., at the Tulsa Country Club.
