InThe Golden Gopher women's golf team struggled in the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational and finished eighth in the 12-team field. Michigan easily outdistanced the field, bettering second-place Indiana by 17 strokes, to capture the team title.

Minnesota shot rounds of 310 in both the first and second rounds, both played on Saturday. The Gophers tallied a 324 in the final round to finish at 944.

Junior Megan Stier was the top Gopher individual finisher, placing in a tie for 20th with a total of 233 after rounds of 77, 78 and 78. Junior Cindy Cannon finished in 22nd place with rounds of 77, 78 and 79 for 234.

There was a four-way tie for medalist honors with Kim Benedict of Michigan winning on a second-hole playoff. Benedict, Michigan's Le Anna Wicks, Eastern Michigan's Kelly Pickett and Illinois State's Noel Jacobusse tied at 4-over par 223.
