teThe University of Minnesota women's golf team is tied for eighth at 53-over-par 645 Saturday at the Indiana Invitational. The Golden Gophers shot rounds of 323-322 to tie with Notre Dame, with both teams 34-strokes back from event leader Purdue. The Invitational is being held at the par 74, 6,134-yard Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.

Individually, senior Karyn Stordahl (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) shot the best round for Minnesota on the day with an even-par 74. Combined with her first round of 82 (+8), Stordahl sits tied for 16th place at 156 (+8). Fellow senior Kirstin Whalen (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) also is tied for 16th with 75-81-156. Sophomore Terra Petsinger (Arvilla, N.D./Larimore) carded a total of 165 (+17) to tie for 41st place. Freshman Sarah Butler (Roseau, Minn./Roseau) is tied for 54th at 21-over 169, while classmates Jessica Thomas (Esko, Minn./Esko) and Anna Haag (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) are placed 60th and 67th, respectively.

The Indiana Invitational will conclude tomorrow.
