After posting a combined score of 298 in the final round, the Gopher's earned a fifth place finish at the 18 team Mountainview Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday. Ending with a 54-hole total of 883, Minnesota moves one step closer to qualifying for the NCAA Tournament at season's end with the strong showing.

Teresa Puga was the top Gopher for the weekend,  carding a 74 over the final 18 holes to narrowly miss a top-10 finish with a tie for 12th in the standings with a 218 tournament total.  One behind Puga, Mary Narzisi continued her solid spring thus far with a tie for 19th following a 74 on Saturday.

Michele Edlin was the lowest team scorer on the day, shooting a one-under 71 to finish the event in a tie for 30th position at 222. Jackie Shepherd  posted a 79 in the final round to end in 39th, while Pai Banchalee concluded her tournament tied for 84 following a 79 in the third and final round as well.

Iowa State took home the tournament title,  leading every round to finish with a team total of 857. Oklahoma (863) ended five shots back in second, while Arkansas (864) and tournament host Colorado (873) were the only other schools who finished ahead of Minnesota.

With a five-under-par 67 on Saturday, Emily Tubert of Arkansas claimed medalist honors by besting Prima Thammaraks of champion Iowa State who entered the lead day tied for the led with Razorback winner.

Minnesota will head next to Pinehurst, N.C to participate in the Pinehurst Challenge from Apr. 4-5.
