Overview: The University of Minnesota women’s golf team will participate in its third event of the spring season at the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. this weekend. Hosted by the University of Colorado, the tournament will played at the 6,227 yard, par 72 Mountain View Golf Course on Mar. 25 and 26.
Played over 54 holes, teams will play 36 holes on Friday with the final round the 13th annual event concluding on Saturday. Stroke play will be the format of the tournament.
Competing against the Gophers in the 18 team field will be: Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon State, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Wyoming.
Currently ranked 40th in country according to Golfweek.com, Minnesota is one of five teams hailing in the top 50 nationally; Arkansas (13), Iowa State (16), Oklahoma (20), and Colorado (28) are the others.
Ranked 69th, Gopher Teresa Puga is one 12 individuals ranked in the top-100 who are participating in the event.

Last Time Out : After a record setting performance in their first event of the spring, the Gophers struggled a bit in their second outing with a 12th place finish at the Central District Invitational. This week’s tournament will be the team’s first official completion in over a month. The Gophers played in an exhibition event at the Alumni Challenge in Arizona last week in preparation for this weekend’s tournament.
