The University of Minnesota women's golf team is in 17th place after the first round of the BU-Tapatio Shootout in Boerne, Texas. The Golden Gophers shot a 329 and trail tournament leader Texas Tech by 33 shots. The tournament is being played at the par 72, 5,185-yard Tapatio Springs Resort.
Individually, the Gophers were led by freshman Sophie Stubbs, who shot a career-best 78 in round one, and is tied for 27th. Sophomore Sarah Butler fired a 79 Friday and is tied for 40th. Junior Terra Petsinger is tied for 66 after an 82. Senior Katie Jacobson carded a 90 and is tied for 103rd. Sophomore Jessica Thomas shot a 95 and is 109th.
