The Minnesota women’s golf team followed up an opening round 315 by carding a 326, putting them in 18th place after round two of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, P.R.

Freshman Teresa Puga (A Corua, Spain) shot a team-best 77 Monday, bettering her opening round score by two strokes. She currently sits in a tie for 65th with a 36-hole score of 156 (79, 77).  Sophomore Christine Herzog (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) is in a seven-way tie for 67th (78, 79 - 157), one shot back of Puga.

Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis (-6, 138) holds a three-shot lead over Caroline Westrup of Florida State (-3, 141) in the race for individual medalist. Kent State holds a narrow one-shot lead over LSU for the team title.

Other Gophers in action at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic include freshman Mary Narzisi (Omaha, Neb.), who is tied for 86th (78, 86 - 164), junior Paige Bromen (Stillwater, Minn.), who is tied for 88th (81, 84 - 165) and freshman Samantha Sommers (St. Cloud, Minn.), who is in 92nd place (80, 86 - 166).

The third and final round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic gets under way on Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. (CST) at the par 72, 6,000-yard Coco Beach Golf and Country Club in San Juan, P.R.
