HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Carmen Laguna paced the University of Minnesota women’s golf team with a tie for 41st place on Tuesday as the Gophers finished 13th in a stacked field at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
Laguna was part of a five-way tie for 41st after firing a 76 in her final round on Tuesday after scoring a pair of 74s on Monday. Laguna finished the tournament at +11, 224.
Three shots back from Laguna, Banchalee Theinthong and Sarinee Thitiratanakorn each carded a +14, 227 at Northmoor Country Club as part of a four-way tie for 50th. Theinthong opened the event with a 76 on Monday morning and a 72 on Monday afternoon before closing the tournament with a 79 on Tuesday. Thitiratanakorn, meanwhile, shot 74s on Monday and Tuesday morning with a 79 on Monday afternoon.
Rounding out the Gophers scores this week were Emie Peronnin and Anna Laorr, tied for 64th and tied for 66th, respectively. Peronnin fired a 79-80-57—234 for the tournament to finish +21 while Laorr finished one shot back at 78-79-78—235.
Arizona’s Lindsey Weaver won top individual honors at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at -5, 70-69-69—208 while Southern California took the team title at +1, 284-278-291—853. Minnesota finished the tournament at +57, 302-304-303—909. Northmoor Country Club featured a par 71 course with a yardage of 6,108.
Minnesota returns to action with the Hoosier Invitational at Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood, Ind. On Oct. 19-20.
