WOODBURY, Minn. - Junior Muyu Wu led the way for the host Gophers as the fifth annual Minnesota Invitational wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at Prestwick Golf Club.
Wu finished the tournament with her second top-20 career finish, tying for 17th at 2-under-par (72-69-73—214). Senior Sabrine Garrison (75-71-74—220) and freshman Kate Lillie (73-71-76—220) tied for 39th, each ending the week at 4-over.
Minnesota had three individual competitiors, led by redshirt freshman Christine Portillo who tied for 61st (79-73-74—226). Freshman Jessica Lee (77-77-75—229) tied for 70th and junior Maggie Heggerston placed 78th (80-75-77—232).
USC claimed the team title at 26-under-par, while individual co-medalists Muni He (USC) and Inez Wanamarta (Purdue) led the field at 10-under-par. Minnesota placed ninth at 7-over-par.
Minnesota will be back in action in two weeks, traveling to the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational in Idaho on September 26-27.
