The University of Minnesota women's golf team opened the Rebel Intercollegiate on Friday with a combined score of 303 and will head into the second round in 11th place.
The Gophers' lineup contributed consistent scores on Friday with a three-over par 75 by junior Banchalee Theinthong and a trio of four-over par 76's by Anna Laorr, Carmen Laguna and Jackie Shepherd. Theinthong is in a tie for 33rd place while the Minnesota threesome are tied for 43rd place. Sarinee Thitiratanakorn rounded out the Gophers' participants with an opening round 82.
Coastal Carolina led the field during the opening 18 holes with a team score of 284, five shots ahead of Mississippi State and Baylor (289). East Tennessee State is in fourth at 290 followed by LSU and Kentucky in a tie for fifth at 291.
The Minnesota lineup will begin play in the second round at Ole Miss Golf Course beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT. The entire second round can be followed live on www.gophersports.com.
