The Minnesota women’s golf team posted its best 18-hole team score of the season en route to a 12th-place finish at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. The Golden Gophers’ third-round score of 294 (+6) was the second-lowest score of all teams today. That score bested Minnesota's previous season low by seven strokes. Their overall score for the tournament was a 52-over 916.

Freshman Carmen Laguna was Minnesota’s top finisher, tying for 26th with a 10-over226 for the event. She posted a career best and the Gophers’ tournament-low round of 71 today with four birdies and three bogeys. Banchalee Theinthong (t-28th) followed close behind with a 227 after a 3-over round today. Jackie Shepherd tied for 47th after a final round of 76. Anna Laorr posted her low round of 73. Taylor Quinn shot an 85.

TCU edged out Oklahoma by one stroke for the team title. The Horned Frogs finished at 882 (+18). Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil captured medalist honors with a 4-under 212.

The Gophers have a few weeks off of competition before traveling to Mesa, Ariz., for the Clover Cup from Mar. 16-18.
