The University of Minnesota women's basketball team travels to Cancun, Mexico, to take part in the Cancun Challenge at The Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Gophers open the event vs. Richmond on Thanksgiving Day at 12:00 p.m., before taking on James Madison Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Gophers, who are receiving two votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, close out the Cancun Challenge vs. Missouri Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Green Bay and Wichita State will also be competing at the event.
Live video of each game will be available on Gophersports.com via Gopher All-Access, while live stats will also be available for each contest. Fans can also listen to each of the three games live on Jazz 88.5 FM, with Corbu Stathes providing play-by-play and Lynnette Sjoquist serving as the analyst.
Minnesota enters the Cancun Challenge with a 4-0 record on the season and an eight-game winning streak that dates back to last season, when the Gophers won four-straight games to win the WBI Championship.
The Gophers will take on Richmond for the first time in program history on Thanksgiving Day. Though they have not faced each other, the Gophers are 5-1 vs. teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference.
