MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota continues full practices at Williams Arena, as it begins to narrow its focus on preparing for game situations. Head coach Pam Borton’s Gophers are wrapping up their third week of having five practices per week, and the first exhibition game is about a week and a half away.
Minnesota will play the first of its two exhibition games against Winona State on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for that game, as well as the Gophers’ second exhibition against Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m., are on sale for $6 each.

Today’s video features sophomore guard Shayne Mullaney of Eden Prairie, Minn., who talks about the focus on defense during practices, the differences of this year as opposed to last year as a freshman, and her expectations for the Golden Gophers.
As a freshman, Shayne played in all 32 games, making starts in 25 contests. She made 79-of-181 (.436) field goals, including 17-of-42 (.405) three-pointers, and connected on 39-of-45 (.867) attempts at the free throw line. Shayne ranked fourth on the team with an average of 6.7 points per game, while adding 2.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game in an average of 27.2 minutes per contest.
