WNBA Playoffs Central
The top-seeded Minnesota Lynx will open their home playoff schedule at Williams Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The 7 p.m. semifinal game will be televised on ESPN2. Game 2, also on campus, will be Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. If a fifth game is needed, it will be Sept. 21.
Golden Gophers alumna Lindsay Whalen, who returned to practice last week after surgery to repair a fracture, will return to her old home arena.
The Lynx will face the lowest remaining seed after the single-elimination first and second rounds. First round matchups to be played Sept. 6 are the No. 6 Washington Mystics against the No. 7 Dallas Wings, and the No. 5 Phoenix Mercury against the No. 8 Seattle Storm.
The No. 3 New York Liberty, including former Gopher Amanda Zahui B, received a first round bye and will face the lowest seed of the two first round winners. The No. 4 Connecticut Sun, including Minnesota all-time leading scorer Rachel Banham, will face the other. Like the Lynx, the No. 2 Los Angeles Sparks have a bye to the semifinals.
Should the Lynx advance to the WNBA Finals, their home games will again be held at Williams Arena, with dates and times to be announced later.
All ticket purchases for Lynx home playoff games will go through the Minnesota Lynx and the WNBA, not the Gopher sales and service department.
