Former Minnesota star Lindsay Whalen and the U.S. women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Group A preliminaries at the London 2012 Olympics Monday night after easily defeating Angola, 90-38, at the Olympic Basketball Arena.
Whalen once again contributed nine points in USA's winning effort, shooting 4-of-6 from the field and a flawless 1-for-1 from the free throw line. The guard also dished out four assists and a steal in 21 minutes on the floor.
USA held Angola to less than 10 points in both the second and fourth quarters, while not allowing more than 12 points to their opponent in any quarter.
The squad will return to the court Wednesday vs. Turkey, with the contest set to get underway at 4:15 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on NBC Sports Network.
