Newly announced University of Minnesota head women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings had a whirlwind of a first day on the job Tuesday, which included being announced as the 11th head coach in the program's history at an introductory press conference at Williams Arena.
The press conference was just the tip of the iceberg for the new leader, as she met with the local media one-on-one, filmed a Q&A with one half of the Golden Gopher radio team, Corbu Stathes (which will appear on Gophersports.com later this week), mingled with Gopher fans, was the subject of a photo shoot, squeezed in a quick radio interview and, most importantly, met with the team.
These were just a few of the items on Coach Stollings' long list as she now takes the reins of the Minnesota women's basketball team, but it was a very important day in a new era of the program.

The guard turned in one of the Gophers' highest-scoring games of the past 15 years.

The junior guard shot 7-of-9 from 3-point range but the Gophers could not overcome a large halftime deficit.
