THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
The University of Minnesota women's basketball team makes the trip to Columbus, Ohio, Thursday for a 5:00 p.m. CT, Big Ten Conference rematch at Ohio State.
The game will be televised live on BTN with Kevin Kugler and Mary Murphy on the call.
Fans can also listen to the contest live on 1500 ESPN or for free through Stetch Internet on Gophersports.com, with Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.
Minnesota enters the contest with a 15-11 overall record and a 4-8 league mark after falling to Northwestern on Sunday at Williams Arena.
Ohio State welcomes the Gophers to Columbus, Ohio, with a 14-11 record on the season and a 4-8 Big Ten record following its loss at Nebraska on Feb. 14.
Minnesota and Ohio State will be meeting for the 64th time on Thursday, with the Buckeyes holding a 12-51 advantage over the Gophers in the all-time series.
The Gophers have only won one time in Columbus, trailing the Buckeys 1-25 on the road.
The Maroon and Gold ranks second in the Big Ten and 16th nationally in field goal percentage with a .449 mark.
Minnesota has scored 70 or more points in 14 games and 80 or more points in 10 games this season, ranking them third in the Big Ten in scoring offense with an average of 71.3 points per game.
Sophomore Rachel Banham needs just 28 points to overtake the No. 14 spot on Minnesota's career scoring register from Angie Iverson, who scored 1,162 points from 1994-98.
Banham has scored in double-figures in 25 of the Gophers' 26 games this season and 58 of her 62 career games played.
With her 58 career games in double-figures, Banham is only one double-figure game away from breaking into Minnesota's all-time top-five.
Banham sits atop Minnesota's single-season record chart with her .898 free throw percentage, while ranking fifth with her 21.3 points per game average.
With her 12.6 points per game average this season, Micaëlla Riché has improved her scoring average by 6.8 points per game from her sophomore season.
