The University of Minnesota women's basketball team is set to host its annual 2012-13 Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Game when it hosts Northwestern at Williams Arena on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will each receive a commemorative pink "I Heart the Gophers" t-shirt.
The Gophers will be wearing their home white uniforms with pink trim and maroon and gold lettering, as well as new pink Nikes and white and pink socks for the game.
Following the contest vs. the Wildcats, the University of Minnesota will host its first Gopher Movie Matinee, where it will be showing the movie The Mighty Macs on the video board. Set in 1972, The Mighty Macs tells the story of Cathy Rush and one team's improbable journey to the first national championship in women's college basketball.
The movie will begin approximately 15 minutes after the game has concluded and will be shown on the South side of the Williams Arena court. Free popcorn will also be provided to those who stay for the screening.
