Gophers Take Down Illinois on Senior Night
Behind 19 points from freshman Rachel Banham and 12 points from senior Kiara Buford, the University of Minnesota women's basketball team took down Illinois, 60-53, Thursday night in Big Ten Conference action as it recognized its four seniors at Williams Arena.

The University of Minnesota women's basketball team returns home on Monday night for just the third time this season in Big Ten action to face Illinois. The contest is set to tip off from Williams Arena at 8:00 p.m., and will be broadcast live on BTN with Kevin Kugler and Stephanie White on the call.

The Gophers enter Monday's contest with a 13-7 overall record and a 2-4 record in Big Ten play following their close loss at #8/8 Penn State on Thursday night.
The Fighting Illini carry a 10-8 record on the season and an even 3-3 record in Big Ten action into the contest, which puts them seventh in league standings.
Minnesota and Illinois will be meeting on the hardwood for the 58th time, with the Illini leading the all-time series, 24-33.
Ten of Minnesota's 13 victories this season have come at the friendly confines of Williams Arena, as the Gophers are 10-2 on their home court.
The Gophers rank second in the Big Ten in scoring offense with an average of 71.5 points per game
Minnesota boasts an impressive .446 field goal percentage, which is the 19th-best mark nationally and is the third-highest percentage in the Big Ten.
With 985 career points, sophomore Rachel Banham needs just 15 points to become the 21st Gopher in program history to reach the 1,000 point milestone.
The guard is currently the second-leading scorer in the Big Ten with a 20.3 points per game average, trailing only Ohio State's Tayler Hill. The guard also ranks 17th nationally in scoring average.
Shayne Mullaney is averaging 3.2 assists per game, which ranks 13th in conference standings and first among the league's freshmen. Her 1.60 assist-turnover ratio is the second-best mark among the nation's rookies.
Micaëlla Riché has already surpassed her season point total from last season with 254 points and a 12.7 points per game average.
